Bill Harris: At Islander Middle School, Bill could be found walking through the halls picking up trash and making sure no one ran too fast. Bill also worked with the busses so that everyone could get to school on time. He was always nice and would ask how our days went and how the school year was going. His kindness to everyone that he met makes him an everyday hero.

Bill Nye: Bill Nye the Science Guy doesn’t just do shows for young kids, he explains how science can be a fun way to prove that you can indeed make delicious desserts with liquid nitrogen. I recently read an article in Popular Science magazine about how he attempts to reinvigorate America’s interest in science. Bill Nye inspired me to take another look at science. To this day, science is still my favorite class at school.

Weston Lucas: Mr. Lucas was my middle school english teacher. He made classes interesting and fun with his puns and jokes. He was never afraid to laugh at himself. Along with english he also taught drama, and sometimes you couldn’t tell the difference between the two. Mr. Lucas made my 7th and 8th grade school years very enjoyable.

Nick Hanson: I met Nick in Boy Scouts. He always had a smile on his face and made really good jokes and skits. His jokes were always the funniest. As senior patrol leader, he did a good job running the troop and setting a good example to everyone else. He made sure everyone could be included in activities and was a great role model.

My last hero is Oliver Lee. He has been a really good friend to me since I moved to Washington. We’ve been to campouts, hikes, bike rides, conventions, and sports games together. If there is an event going on and he’s there, I’ll try to be there too. Oliver has a great personality that can only be described as original. I am very glad that he is my friend
