My Five Living Heroes

  1. Sandra Everingham (aka my mom) is my hero because she always helps people with things and she is a super nice person to everyone. I want to be like her someday.
  2. Javier Garavito (aka my dad) is my hero because he is super smart and is very good at a lot of things and on top of that he is very fun to be around. I would also like to be like him.
  3. Solis Garavito (aka my brother) is my hero because he never gives things up no matter what. If he starts something he has to finish it. He is also a super fun and creative person. He doesn’t know this but I really love and respect him.
  4. Ms. Johnson, one of my 7th grade teachers, was my hero because she always helped me with my work and made sure I was interested in what we where working on. I never got bored in her class. She made sure to adapt to each students learning style which I think is pretty great. She was probably my most favorite teacher ever and I really respect her.
  5. All the instructors at MIMA are also my heroes. They are all super kind and are great with kids. I have learned so much from them and have become a better person thanks to them. They are super fun and I can tell a lot of people look up to them.

Questions

What are goals upon having reached black belt for my future training and learning?

I want to obviously continue with my journey and try to go for second don black belt, maybe even become an instructor. I want to do more leadership and help other people out on their training and not be too strict about it. I also want to get really good a bow staffs.

What kind of black belt will I be?

I want to be the kind of black belt that you look up too and enjoy being around. I want to help people, big or small, and I want to know I am making a difference in their training and in their lives. The reason I want to be this kind of black belt is because I have had many black belts like this in my martial arts journey. I really look up to them and I want to be just like them. They have changed my life for the better and I want to be that person to someone as well.

She has grown into her leadership with peers and younger kids with a gentle confidence and a genuine desire to help. She is MY hero and I know she will continue to grow as a black belt and beyond.

Sandra Everingham, Mom

Luna has passionately dedicated herself to achieving the level of black belt. In her quest, she has demonstrated ever-increasing drive and focus. As a result of this self-determination, Luna has achieved more than she thought possible. I am very proud of her and believe these lessons will serve her well in many aspects of life.
