Save, at Least, One Life

~ This Year ~

The Escape to Safety Card Game

As a part of our upcoming belt test, we are teaching all of our students how to execute a leadership project called The Escape to Safety Card Game

The game, designed by our friend, martial arts teacher Tom Callos, is already responsible for saving the lives of two boys in California.

Our project requires your child to teach at least 3 other people how to use the game to plan and practice an emergency escape route from one’s bed to a “safe
place” outside of the home –in case of a fire or other emergency.

We are teaching everyone in our school how to do the presentation, which takes between 10 to 20 minutes to give, and I’m asking you to help us achieve our goal of
teaching 100 people (plus) over the summer.

A noteworthy aspect of this particular project is that the Escape to Safety cards we are using can be found on our school’s website:yes""> www.mercerislandmartialarts.ning.com.

We are involved with a network of martial arts master teachers who have committed to teaching thousands of children this practical self-defense information. This project is
also one small part of an international movement to teach leadership to young
people, experientially, though executing small and manageable community-based
projects.

If you have any questions about this program –or if you would like to have access to these simple cards, please contact me.

Thank you, in advance, for helping us execute this worthwhile community service project –and for helping us save lives.

Respectfully,

MeLisa Strongheart
