More progress on community service!

Spoke this past week with another person at MI Youth and Family Services. At this point, they have my name on a 'to call' list if they have miscellaneous projects they need help with as well as the annual "Giving From the Heart" breakfast, which this year will be at 7am on Wednesday Feb. 9th. In addition, I am now waiting to hear from the exec director about possibly joining the advisory council.

Another idea percolating... need to do some checking to see if it's going to be viable.

Hi Master Stongheart, here's the percolating idea:

find a way to encourage those who are picking up their students from the dojang to enter the parking garage.

I worry about the safety of the kids (cars parked on an active street run the risk of collision and cars parked across the street or in the center put their kids at risk by encouraging them to cross in a no-crossing zone) and know that at least once the police have had to clear the cars from the area in front of the dojang as it's an active street rather than a parking place.

I don't think my initial ideas are going to hold much water, but have another more proactive idea that I'll run by you soon... --Jan

Jan, ok, I was going to wait to hear, but it is making me too curious. . . . what is your percolating idea? and have you heard from them regarding the council? that sounds very interesting.
