Online Curriculum, Process, and Community
For my black belt Community leadership project I've decided to try and get a group together and volunteer at Northwest Harvest. Since 1967 Northwest Harvest has been helping feed people through their network of food banks and meal programs. To read more about how Northwest Harvest helps feed Washington go to http://www.northwestharvest.org/how-we-fight-hunger
With the holiday season upon us I thought what better way to help the community by helping the less fortunate get a good meal. I have reserved two dates in which we can volunteer:
1st date Saturday December 6th
Time: 1pm-3pm
Location: Southcenter Mall
Duties: Holding signs, collecting cash donations, sharing information about the work of Northwest Harvest.
Note: only 2 other volunteer spaces available.
2nd Date: Saturday December 27th
Time: 9am to noon
Location: Northwest Harvest Kent Warehouse
22220 68th Ave S
Kent, WA 98032
206.285.0237
Duties:Sort and re-package bulk food into family sized portions for distribution to food banks throughout the state.
If you or your family would like to help volunteer you are welcome to join. Children are also welcome but must be 9 yrs old or in the 3rd grade. Please note that for the December 27th date we must all be there for our whole shift as the work we will be doing is done assembly-line fashion so we all will work as a team. If you would like to help please email me at aabad33@aol.com as I will have to report to Northwest Harvest how many volunteers we will have for the day. Also once I get all the volunteers I'll send out a group email with directions and other information needed for that day.
